Muldoon Creek
Last September, I took my son and headed to the Pioneer Mountains to hunt blue grouse, scout for elk, and get to know the area better. It turned out to be quite a day with more fun and adventure than I'd experienced in some time. (Not since the last time I'd had to run from my wife for making sarcastic comments anyway.)
I'd hunted on the other side of the mountain from Muldoon Creek many times, always looking down on it once I reached the top. For years, I've been wondering just exactly what was over there and whether or not it would be good for finding bigger bucks AND more elk.
I was especially interested in finding where the elk went after watching them head over the top of the mountain toward the Muldoon Creek side so many times in the past. Well, I was not disappointed. We found grouse, deer, elk, and another big surprise as well -- an antelope at 9000 feet!
