Here is a picture of an old trommel left along the creek not far from where we dug. Trommels were used to separate large rocks from the soil and then wash the remaining material through sluice boxes in order to catch the gold. I'm not sure of this one's history or why it was left behind, but there it sits anyway.
There's a spot on the map called Carrietown a few miles from Little Smoky Creek. There are a couple of mines nearby. Naturally, there's not much at Carrietown anymore as it is more a part of history than anything at this point.
There's always lots of great scenery as well, here as some of the best shots of the area.
Ok, so this isn't scenery, but I just couldn't help but include a picture of my doggie. Look at him, acting all "king of the hill".
